Joyette Holmes comes to GDCR Law after serving as the Cobb County District Attorney. Ms. Holmes works with the Litigation and Education Practice Group, as well as all Practice Groups throughout the firm. She made Cobb County history by becoming the first female and African American to serve as both Chief Magistrate and District Attorney.

Ms. Holmes began her career as a Defense Attorney in the District Courts of Baltimore County, MD. She has served as the Chief Magistrate Judge for Cobb County, as an Assistant District Attorney, as a private business owner in the Marietta-based Law Office of Joyette M. Holmes, and as an Assistant Solicitor General.

Her extensive experience led to her selection by the Georgia Governor to lead the District Attorney's Office.

She was named the 2019 Cobb County Citizen of the Year and one of Cobb Life Magazine's “20 Rising Stars under 40”.

The Cobb NAACP and the Cobb Ministerial Alliance have both honored her with awards named for United States Supreme Court Justice Thurgood Marshall. And she has received a Community Service Award named for one of her mentors - retired Georgia Supreme Court Justice Robert Benham.
