Blake Hungerford is a member of GDCR’s Real Estate and Government Group, where he comanages the firm’s real estate litigation. Mr. Hungerford advises clients on a broad range of real estate matters, including right-of-way acquisitions, condemnations, zoning, local government issues, contract negotiations, real estate litigation, and title insurance disputes. His work spans both transactional and litigation matters, giving clients comprehensive support from deal structuring to dispute resolution.

Mr. Hungerford has been recognized by Super Lawyers as a Rising Star in Eminent Domain and Real Estate law—an honor awarded to only the top 2.5% of attorneys under 40 in the state.

Blake Hungerford brings extensive experience in representing condemning authorities in land acquisitions throughout Georgia. His practice also includes representing title insurance companies, utilities, individuals, local governments, non-profit organizations, developers, and financial institutions in real estate matters at both the trial and appellate levels in courts across the state. He regularly negotiates development agreements, complex purchase and sale agreements, construction contracts, and commercial and residential leases. Mr. Hungerford has also represented utility companies in numerous real estate matters. He is currently serving as a Special Assistant Attorney General of the State of Georgia in real estate and transportation issues for the Georgia Department of Transportation.

Mr. Hungerford earned his Juris Doctor, cum laude, from the Cumberland School of Law at Samford University, where he served as Treasurer of the Student Bar Association and Senior Associate Editor of the American Journal of Trial Advocacy. He was the recipient of the Daniel Austin Brewer Professionalism Award and the Vulcan Materials Co. Scholarship Award for excellence in legal writing. He earned his undergraduate degree in economics from Auburn University.

Mr. Hungerford lives in Marietta with his wife, Leslee, three kids and two dogs.

  • Successfully represented the Department of Transportation in land acquisition and eminent domain/condemnation cases in numerous jurisdictions in Georgia including, Bartow County, Cobb County, Coweta County, Dawson County, DeKalb County, Douglas County, Fannin County, Forsyth County, Fulton County, Paulding County, Pickens County, Polk County and Troup County.
  • Successfully represented numerous metro-area counties & municipalities in land acquisition for transportation projects.
  • Successfully represented multiple local governments and state agencies in the expansion of multi-use trails, including representing the Department of Transportation in the expansion of the Silver Comet Trail in Cobb County, GA. 
  • Successfully represented Cobb County Kennestone Hospital Authority in the sale of medical office complex.
  • Successfully represented numerous clients in negotiating commercial lease agreements and landlord tenant disputes.
  • Successfully represented local county in the purchase of property for use as new police department training center ($11 million).
  • Successfully represented utility company with various real estate disputes.
