GDCR Hires Three Attorneys Across Three Practice Areas

GDCR Attorneys at Law is excited to announce the hiring of three new attorneys who were recently sworn in by GDCR alum Judge Tain Kell in Cobb County Superior Court.
Maggie Garrett joined GDCR’s Litigation and Community Association practices where she litigates business, securities, and intellectual property cases as well as various issues on behalf of community associations. She graduated from the University of Georgia with a B.A. in International Affairs concentrating in comparative politics with a minor in Spanish and received her J.D. Cum Laude from Georgia State University College of Law. While in law school, she obtained a certificate in Environmental & Land Use Law, was a member of the Environmental Moot Court Competition Team, received the 2020 Land Use Award, worked in the Philip C. Cook Low-Income Tax Clinic handling tax controversies, and participated in the Urban Fellows program.
As a student, she also worked for the Comparative Study of Metropolitan Growth as a graduate research assistant on behalf of Associate Director Karen Johnston. In this role, Ms. Garrett reviewed scholarly articles to be published in the Journal of Comparative Urban Law and Policy. She also assisted in the research and publication of a paper exploring state property interests in submerged waters for the Georgia Department of Transportation.
Olivia K. Fletcher joined GDCR’s Business Transactions and Corporate practice where she assists closely held businesses and middle market companies with stock purchase agreements and asset purchase agreements, performs due diligence review in acquisition agreements, compiles disclosure schedules for commercial transactions and drafts transaction documents ancillary to mergers. Ms. Fletcher assists clients and community members in selecting an entity type, working with the Georgia Secretary of State to start their companies, and drafting organizational corporate documents for their businesses.
She graduated from the University of West Florida, Magna Cum Laude, and received her J.D. from Mercer University School of Law. Olivia was a member of the ABA National Appellate Advocacy Competition Team 2021; Charleston Moot Court Team 2020 and the Phi Delta Phi Legal Honors Society Member. She was also the Hugh Lawson Moot Court Competition Editor 2020 and the Hugh Lawson Moot Court Competition Editor, 2021.
Prior to joining the firm, Olivia was a law clerk for the Macon-Bibb Judicial Circuit, District Attorney’s Office where she argued bond hearings before the Macon-Bibb Superior Court under the Third Year Practice Act; assisted assistant district attorneys with preparation for trial; and argued delinquency hearings before the Macon-Bibb Juvenile Court.
Melissa Pouncey, a Marietta native, is a joint member of GDCR’s Government & Real Estate practice and Litigation practice. She represents clients across a broad range of legal matters with a focus on eminent domain/condemnation and local government.
Ms. Pouncey graduated with Honors and Magna Cum Laude from Wake Forest University with a B.A. in Anthropology and a minor in Art History. After graduation, Melissa worked for a year as an Archaeological Technician before attending the University of Georgia School of Law. While in law school, she worked in the Practicum for Animal Welfare Skills, where she helped prosecute animal cruelty cases and ordinance violations and assisted in drafting ordinances for Athens-Clarke County.
