Laura Jacques has joined GDCR’s Trusts & Estates and Tax practice group as an Associate.
Ms. Jacques earned her law degree from Santa Clara University, in Santa Clara, California, with an emphasis on Social Justice issues. She clerked and volunteered for Senior Adults Legal Assistance in San Jose, California, and participated in an elder abuse task force, among other law school experiences.
Prior to transitioning into the practice of law, Ms. Jacques had a career in special education, teaching and mentoring teachers in both public and non-public schools in Arizona and California, working with children with a range of learning differences and disabilities.
Ms. Jacques joined GDCR in the spring of 2019 as a paralegal in the Trusts and Estates practice group, supporting five attorneys with various aspects of their law practice, including drafting documents, court pleadings, entity formation, and various administrative tasks.
After successfully sitting for the Georgia Bar Exam in February 2020, Ms. Jacques was sworn-in to the State Bar of Georgia in June 2020. She then transitioned into an Associate position in the Trusts & Estates and Tax practice group.
Ms. Jacques’ offers a range of services including comprehensive estate planning for individuals, couples, and families at various stages of their lives; representing individuals and families in guardianship and conservatorship proceedings for both adults and minors; and assisting clients to reach resolution of Estate Administration issues at every stage of the probate process.
She is a member of the Elder and Fiduciary Law Sections of the State Bar of Georgia and the Younger Lawyer Division, Probate, Estate Planning and Elder Law Sections of the Cobb County Bar Association. Ms. Jacques is also a pro bono volunteer with Legal Aid Cobb Justice Foundation.
