GDCR Attorneys at Law is pleased to announce attorney Sonya Sallis has been promoted from Associate to Member.
Ms. Sallis is a member of the Education Practice Group advising Georgia boards of education, administrators and educators regarding a broad range of compliance issues.
Ms. Sallis has extensive experience defending and guiding districts through federal and state agency investigations. She has successfully represented school districts in formal disputes before the Georgia Department of Education, in complaints and compliance reviews with the U.S. Department of Education Office for Civil Rights, in student discipline hearings and appeals and in special education litigation.
Ms. Sallis also provides training to board members, school and District-level administrators and educators on topics including special education, student discipline, Constitutional issues, federal non-discrimination laws, FERPA compliance and the complex legal challenges facing K-12 educators and administrators in public education.
She received her J.D., Cum Laude, from the University of Georgia School of Law and her undergraduate degree, Magna Cum Laude, from the University of Georgia.
